Direct Services
The unit provides assistance to seniors with government benefits, tenant/homeowner issues and health issues. This is also the information and referral center for home health and home care services.
Eligibility for the following services (unless stated otherwise) is
age 60 and older
Community Service Advocates
Provide assistance with government benefits, tenant and homeowner issues, and various city services available to seniors. Advocates also provide services to homebound seniors.
Some of the programs and services available to seniors:
- S.S.I.
- Medicare
- Medicaid
- Medicare Supplemental Insurance
- Fuel Assistance
- Food Stamps
- Veterans' Benefits
- Oral/Dental Health Screening Program
- Health and Fitness Programs

In conjunction with Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, free screenings for seniors and disabled are available at convenient neighborhood locations. Referrals for future evaluations are provided. If you are interested please call Elderly Commission at 617-635-4366.

Through participating neighborhood pharmacies, seniors and Medicare disabled recipients are eligible for discounts on prescription drugs at local pharmacies. Call The Elderly Commission for information about participating neighborhood pharmacies at 617-635-4486.
